Neumann KM53a
This month's Mic of the Month is a beautiful Neumann KM53a. Its nickel capsule provides an omnidirectional polar pattern and a smooth frequency response. The KM53a was the first of Neumann's miniature microphones (along with the KM54a and the KM56), and was built around the AC701k vacuum tube.
Due to the growing popularity of Television at the time, there was a demand for a small microphone that met the rigid standards of the broadcasting industry. With the advent of television, the audience not only wanted to hear the performers, but they wanted to see them as well. Neumann's standard U47 and M49 microphones were too large and the performers faces got lost behind the microphone. Neumann decided to utilize the same capsule that was used the the M50. The capsule proved to be a capable performer and thus the KM53a was created.
This is a great sounding microphone that will make a valuable addition to any microphone collection. Call for pricing and details.
